Athlete Code of Conduct

As an Athlete, I will:

  • Be on time for training, rehearsals, classes, and any events, shows, conventions, workshops and competitions.

  • I will be “ready to go” at the time set for classes to start, and I understand the difference between “walking in the door” and being “ready to go”.

  • Attend class in appropriate dancewear as outlined in the uniform policy. My hair will be neat and off my face and I will not wear jewellery.

  • Be in appropriate Obsidian Cheer and Dance attire at Competitions and events outlined by the head coaches beforehand.

  • Work to the best of my ability in every class by taking on feedback from the coaches, practicing skills and choreography, applying myself during technique/conditioning and maintaining a positive mental attitude.

  • Understand that by missing more than 3 classes in a month with unauthorised absence may result in removal from any show or competition routine.

  • Inform a Head Coach in class or via [parents] email, if I am injured/unable to dance, and attend training where possible (even if it’s just to watch).

  • Be polite, courteous and respectful to my coaches and fellow dancers/cheerleaders.

  • Represent Obsidian Cheer and Dance in a respectful, helpful manner; being positive in spirit, attitude and behaviour when in class and out of class.

  • Give my all; physically, emotionally and mentally. This includes: dancing full out, stretching and practising at home, focusing on material being taught and my own performance.

  • Respect the dance studios, halls, and performance environments, keeping them neat and clean for the safety of others and myself and I will clean up after myself if any spillages are made.

  • Respect and care for all costumes, props and equipment.

  • Take responsibilities for my belongings.

  • Ensure I have informed my Coach when leaving a premise (including after training, events and competitions).

I understand:

  • That if I gossip, write or otherwise communicate negatviely about others in or outside of classes, rehearsals and/or competitions, this includes any area related to choreography, costumes, music, coaches, competition staff or other dancers, I will be dismissed from my team or worst case removed from Obsidian entirely. A pre-warning may or may not be given depending on situation.
